There were many disagreements about the name of Summit County.
 
 
 
 
False - Although there was disagreement about whether or not to create a new county, the name of it was never in question.  The land that was to make up the county lay on the summit of the divide between the St. Lawrence and Mississippi River Systems.  Additionally the summit level of the Ohio Canal was also within the new county's boundaries.
