The balloons in Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York were made in Akron, Ohio by Goodyear. 

 

 

True - Goodyear's Aerospace division in Akron, Ohio, designed the cartoon balloons for the Thanksgiving Day Parade from 1927 to 1980.  Goodyear was responsible for some of the most famous characters including Bullwinkle, Popeye, and Underdog.
