The Quaker Oats Company gave away land in the Canadian Yukon as part of a cereal promotion.
True - In 1955, Quaker Oats created a cereal promotion offering 1 square inch of Yukon land inside each box of Quaker Puffed Oats or Rice and Muffets Shredded Wheat. Within weeks, Quaker Oats had distributed 21 million "Land Deeds" from the Klondike Big Inch Land Company, Inc.
While there was land in the Yukon that the Big Inch Land Co. held a future on, the company disolved in 1965 and the land reverted back to the Canadian government.
