True - Chrissie Hynde, the founder of the Pretenders, was born in Akron, Ohio in September of 1951.  Chrissie is a singer, song writer and guitarist who still performs today. 

 

The Pretenders released Pretenders in 1980 and it reached number 1 in the UK and broke the top ten in the US.

Hynde will open her new vegetarian restaurant, VegiTerranean,  on Saturday, Sept. 15, 2007 at Northside Lofts, 21 Furnace St., Akron.

 

She will also perform at the Akron Civic Theatre on Saturday, September 15, 2007 with a "celebrity guest."
